Sophora fulvida, commonly called kōwhai or west coast kōwhai, is one of eight native Sophora (kōwhai) species found in New Zealand. It grows naturally in the Northland, Auckland, and Waikato regions of New Zealand. Under the New Zealand Threat Classification System, this species is classified as "At Risk - Naturally Uncommon" due to its restricted geographic range.
