Sideritis hyssopifolia L., commonly known as hyssop-leaved mountain ironwort, is a small shrub that reaches 40 cm in height, with narrow, pointed leaves. Its 1 cm long flowers grow in dense cylindrical clusters, emerging from broad bracts that have spiny teeth; the plant’s calyx also bears spiny teeth. This species flowers between June and August. It is listed as least concern on the IUCN Red List. The specific epithet hyssopifolia means 'hyssop-leaved', and this term appears in the scientific names of several other plant species, including Cuphea hyssopifolia. This plant is distributed in the mountains of southwestern Europe, growing at altitudes between 1500 and 1800 meters.
