About Scutellaria barbata D.Don

Scutellaria barbata D.Don is a perennial herb that usually grows up to 35 centimeters tall, and may occasionally grow taller. Its leaves are lightly toothed, somewhat lance-shaped or triangular, and reach up to approximately 3 centimeters in length. Flowers grow on pedicels that bear tiny, sharp bracteoles. The purple-blue, lightly hairy corolla of each flower is roughly one centimeter long. This plant grows in moist and wet habitats, including paddy fields, and contains a large amount of terpineol. It is distributed across flatlands in South Central China, and is typically harvested at the end of summer.
