Its natural habitats include temperate shrubland, subtropical or tropical dry shrubland, subtropical or tropical dry lowland grassland, rural gardens, and urban areas.

Distribution Range
It is native to South Africa, and is primarily recorded from the Eastern Cape Province, extending east to Umtata in the former Transkei, with a small number of additional records from the Western Cape Province. It occurs mostly relatively close to the coast, but its range extends inland to Grahamstown, Kei Road, Stutterheim, and the Amatola Mountains.
Elevation Range
It generally lives at elevations below 1,000 m above sea level, though its range reaches up to 1,500 m above sea level in some locations.
