Nomenclature and Classification
Scarus prasiognathos, commonly known as the Singapore parrotfish, is a species of marine ray-finned parrotfish belonging to the family Scaridae.
Distribution and Habitat
This species is native to the eastern Indian Ocean and western Pacific Ocean, where it inhabits coral reefs.
Formal Description
It was first formally described in 1840 by French naturalist Achille Valenciennes, who lived from 1794 to 1865.
Type Locality
The type locality for the species was recorded as New Ireland in the Bismarck Archipelago.
