Salsola komarovii Iljin is an annual plant species native to China, Korea, Japan, and eastern Russia. This plant reaches a height of 20 to 50 centimeters, or 8 to 20 inches. It is cultivated for use as a vegetable, and its leaves and young shoots are the edible parts consumed by people. In Japanese, the species is called okahijiki, a name that translates to "land seaweed".
