About Sairocarpus vexillocalyculatus (Kellogg) D.A.Sutton

Sairocarpus vexillocalyculatus, also classified under the synonym Antirrhinum vexillocalyculatum, is a species of New World snapdragon. It is native exclusively to California, with occasional occurrences in Oregon. This wildflower has several common names: wiry snapdragon, sailflower snapdragon, and Brewer's snapdragon. Its small branchlets twine around other plants or nearby objects to grow. It produces lavender snapdragon flowers that measure 1 to 2 centimeters wide. The flower has a prominent lower lip, and petals may be streaked with darker purple. This species is most abundant in low-elevation mountains of northern and central California, where it grows in rocky areas, particularly favoring serpentine soil.
