Ruellia blechum L., commonly called the green shrimp plant or Browne's blechum, is a flowering plant species that belongs to the family Acanthaceae. It is native to Mexico, the Caribbean, and northern and western South America. This species has been introduced to Brazil, Taiwan, numerous Pacific islands, and the U.S. states of Hawaii, Louisiana, and Florida. Because it is popular as an ornamental plant, it has become invasive in locations as distant as Papua New Guinea.
