Rana macrocnemis Boulenger, 1885

Nomenclature

The long-legged wood frog has the scientific name Rana macrocnemis, and is also commonly called the Caucasus frog, Brusa frog, or Uludağ frog. It is a species of frog belonging to the family Ranidae.

Distribution

This species can be found in Armenia, Azerbaijan, Georgia, Iran, Russia, Turkey, and Turkmenistan.

Its natural habitats include boreal forests, temperate forests, temperate shrubland, subtropical or tropical dry shrubland, temperate grassland, rivers, intermittent rivers, swamps, freshwater lakes, intermittent freshwater lakes, freshwater marshes, intermittent freshwater marshes, freshwater springs, rocky areas, arable land, pastureland, plantations, rural gardens, urban areas, water storage areas, ponds, and introduced vegetation.

The International Union for Conservation of Nature does not consider this species threatened.
