About Pullenia gunnii (Benth. ex Hook.f.) H.Ohashi & K.Ohashi

Pullenia gunnii (Benth. ex Hook.f.) H.Ohashi & K.Ohashi is a sprawling to ascending perennial plant. Its stems grow up to 40 cm (16 inches) long, and are either glabrous or covered with appressed hairs. This species produces 3-foliolate leaves; its leaflets are rhombic in shape with a truncate apex, and are mostly subglabrous, with only a small number of hairs present on the veins of their lower surface. Terminal leaflets measure 0.5 to 2 cm long and 7 to 11 mm wide, while lateral leaflets are smaller. Leaf petioles are 10 to 30 mm long, and stipules are 2 to 4 mm long. Racemes grow up to 16 cm (6 inches) long, with individual flower pedicels measuring 1.5 to 7 mm long. The flowers themselves are 1 to 1.2 mm long, and range in color from pink to lavender. Pods of Pullenia gunnii can grow up to 30 mm long, and are covered in a dense indumentum of spreading hooked hairs. Pods hold up to 6 articles, the constricted seed-containing segments of the fruit, which each measure 4 to 5 mm long.
