About Psorothamnus polydenius (Torr.) Rydb.
Psorothamnus polydenius (Torr.) Rydb. is a shrub that sometimes grows over one meter tall. It has highly branching stems that taper into twigs; the twigs are covered in soft, rough, or silky hairs and have visible glands. Its small leaves are each composed of a few pairs of oval or rounded leaflets, each of which is just a few millimeters long. The inflorescence is a dense raceme or spike-shaped cluster holding several flowers. Each flower has a pinkish purple pea-like corolla around half a centimeter long, set in a glandular calyx of sepals with pointed lobes. The fruit it produces is a small legume pod that holds one seed. One recognized variety of this species, Psorothamnus polydenius var. jonesii, grows only in Utah.
