Plumage Details

Its upperparts are vivid green, underparts are paler yellowish-green, wings are deep blue, and the underside of the tail is verditer. The bill is dusky black, the area around the eyes is black, the forehead is crimson, the throat is orange, and the legs are greenish.

Size Measurements

This barbet measures 20.5–23.5 cm (8.1–9.3 in) in length and weighs 50–101 g (1.8–3.6 oz).

Distribution Range

The golden-throated barbet is a resident species found in Nepal, India, Bhutan, Myanmar, Thailand, Malaysia, Laos, Vietnam, and mainland China. Its occurrence in Bangladesh is unconfirmed.

Habitat Preferences

It lives in tropical and subtropical moist forests at elevations ranging from 900 to 2,700 m (3,000 to 8,900 ft).

Territorial Call

Regarding its behaviour and ecology, the male's territorial call is a very loud pukwowk.
