About Protea mundii Klotzsch
Protea mundii, commonly known as the forest sugarbush, is a flowering shrub native to the Cape Provinces of South Africa. It grows on forest margins at elevations ranging from 200 to 1,300 meters (660 to 4,270 feet), and can reach a height of 8 meters (26 feet). This species produces white to ivory colored flowers that attract bees, butterflies, and/or birds. Its specific epithet commemorates Johannes Ludwig Leopold Mund, a German natural history collector who worked in the Cape region until 1831. Protea mundii is cultivated for use as a garden plant.
