Body Size
Proceratophrys boiei is a moderate-sized, robust frog. It reaches a length between 40 and 70 mm (1.6 and 2.8 in), and males are typically slightly smaller than females.
Head and Body Shape
Both its head and body are relatively broad, and its snout is rounded. Long, tapering skin peaks project from above the eyes.
Skin Texture
The skin on its back and flanks is covered all over with warts.
Dorsal Color Pattern
Its coloration forms an irregular geometric pattern in brown, black, yellow, orange and red. This pattern makes the frog nearly invisible against the leaf litter background it inhabits.

It also has a broad brown or grey dorsal stripe.
