This petrel is a pelagic bird that forages across a broad band of the South Atlantic Ocean, between 30° and 50° south.
Geographic Range
Its range stretches from southern Brazil in the west all the way to southern Africa in the east.
Current Breeding Location
Currently, the spectacled petrel only breeds on Inaccessible Island, which is part of the Tristan da Cunha archipelago in the South Atlantic.
Historical Breeding Evidence
There is evidence that the species may have once bred on Amsterdam Island in the south Indian Ocean.
