Pothos scandens L. is a climbing plant that grows in tropical forests, and it belongs to Araceae, the calla lily family. It is the type species of the genus Pothos, and no subspecies of this plant are listed in the Catalogue of Life. Its leaves resemble those of makrut lime, Citrus hystrix, and its petiole is expanded into a cladode that bears a single terminal leaflet. Pothos scandens can be found in Bangladesh, Brunei, Cambodia, China (Yunnan), the Comoros, India (including the Andaman and Nicobar Islands), Indonesia (Java, Kalimantan, Maluku, Nusa Tenggara, Sumatera), Laos, Madagascar, Malaysia (Peninsular Malaysia and Sabah), Myanmar, the Philippines, the Seychelles, Sri Lanka, Thailand, and Vietnam. In Vietnamese, this species is known as tràng phao dây or ráy leo.
