This species has a broad head and a pale white underside.

Coloration

Juvenile and mature individuals have distinct coloration: as juveniles mature, their color changes from dark brown with three light dorsal stripes and a blue tail, to the brownish green coloration of full adults, which also has reddish spots along the flanks.
