About Pittosporum moluccanum (Lam.) Miq.

Pittosporum moluccanum is a small, rounded, dioecious tree that reaches around 7 meters in height. Its flowering occurs from February to August in the dry monsoonal climate of northern Australia. Its fruits are capsules measuring 10 mm (0.39 in) long by 8 mm (0.31 in) wide; these capsules ripen to an orange-brown color, with a bright yellow inner surface. Each fruit contains 15 to 16 seeds that are enclosed in bright red, sticky arils. This species acts as a host plant for the Atlas Moth.
