About Phemeranthus parviflorus (Nutt.) Kiger

Phemeranthus parviflorus, commonly known as sunbright or prairie fame flower, is a flowering plant species belonging to the montia family, Montiaceae. It is native to North America, occurring across the central and eastern United States and northern Mexico. Its natural habitat consists of dry, sandy or rocky areas, and it most often grows on acidic substrates. Across its wide range, it can be found in a variety of plant communities including grasslands, open woodlands, glades, mountain slopes, and bluffs. This species is an herbaceous perennial. It has linear, succulent leaves, and produces flowers in shades ranging from reddish-pink to reddish-purple between May and September.
