About Persoonia virgata R.Br.
Persoonia virgata is usually an erect shrub, and only rarely grows as a prostrate shrub. It typically reaches a height of 0.5 to 4 metres (1 ft 8 in to 13 ft 1 in), and has smooth bark. When young, its branches are covered in whitish or greyish hairs. Its leaves are linear to narrow spatula-shaped, 20โ50 mm (0.79โ1.97 in) long and 1โ2 mm (0.039โ0.079 in) wide. The flowers grow in groups of up to seventy-five, on a rachis that can reach 230 mm (9.1 in) long and continues to grow after flowering. Each flower sits on a 4โ9 mm (0.16โ0.35 in) long pedicel, with a leaf at the pedicel's base. The tepals are yellow, 4โ9 mm (0.16โ0.35 in) long, and glabrous. Most flowering occurs between December and March. This geebung grows in habitats ranging from heath to forest, mostly on old sand dunes in near-coastal areas. It is found between Shoalwater Bay in Queensland and Forster in New South Wales.
