Ohwia caudata, with the scientific name Ohwia caudata (Thunb.) H.Ohashi, was formerly classified in the genus Desmodium under the name Desmodium caudatum. It is a deciduous, nitrogen-fixing shrub that belongs to the legume family Fabaceae. This species occurs naturally in India, China, Taiwan, and other regions of Asia. It typically grows to around 1.5 meters (4 feet 11 inches) in height. It is closely related to the genera Arthroclianthus, Nephrodesmus, and Hanslia. The leaves and roots of Ohwia caudata are used as an insecticide.
