Morphology: This species (originally mislabeled as Mimosa turneri) typically has only 1 pair of pinnae per leaf, with 2 pairs of leaflets per pinna. Habitat and ecology: This is an uncommon species that grows as a small to medium-sized shrub. It is found in localized desert populations on limestone soil at elevations ranging from 2200 feet to 4000 feet above sea level. It grows in soil with high alkalinity. It is deciduous and has very high heat tolerance that enables it to survive in very hot deserts.
