About Lygodesmia texana (Torr. & A.Gray) Greene ex Small

Lygodesmia texana, commonly called the Texas skeleton plant, typically grows 12 to 24 inches tall. It has thin, mostly leafless stems, with a small number of small leaves growing at the plant's base. A single wide, light purple flower blooms at the end of each stem at one time. The flower has 8 to 12 light purple petals surrounding a white center. When broken, the stems release sap that can harden into a gum.
