Lomatium mohavense is a hairy, gray-green perennial herb. It grows 10 to 40 centimeters tall from an elongated taproot. It generally has no true stem; its erect or spreading leaves and inflorescence emerge directly from ground level. Individual leaves can grow nearly 20 centimeters long, with leaf blades that are intricately divided and subdivided into crowded clusters of tiny segments. Its inflorescence is an umbel that bears flowers ranging in color from yellow to brownish to dark purple.
