Lawrencia spicata Hook., commonly called salt lawrencia, is a plant species that belongs to the mallow family, Malvaceae. This species is endemic to Australia, and has been recorded in the states of Western Australia, South Australia, Victoria, and New South Wales. It favors habitats including coastal saltmarsh, estuaries, river banks, and the margins of salt lakes. It is a perennial herb that grows fleshy stems and leaves arranged in a basal rosette, from which a dense cylindrical flowering spike grows upward to reach up to 60 cm in total height. Its leaves measure 2 to 7 cm in length and have extended stalks. The flowers of Lawrencia spicata are either white or yellow, and produce a strong smell.
