About Lathyrus rotundifolius Willd.
Lathyrus rotundifolius, commonly called the Persian everlasting pea, is a species of flowering plant in the pea family, Fabaceae. It is native to Iran. This herbaceous perennial climber grows to 1.5 m (4.9 ft) tall, and has twining, clinging tendrils. It produces brick red flowers in summer, and unlike its relative the sweet pea (Lathyrus odoratus), its flowers are unscented. It is hardy to temperatures as low as −20 °C (−4 °F), but requires a growing position in full sun. It has been awarded the Royal Horticultural Society's Award of Garden Merit. It works well as a plant to scramble over a fence or grow through another shrub or tree.
