About Lambertia inermis R.Br.

Lambertia inermis R.Br., commonly called Noongar chittick, is a flowering plant species belonging to the Proteaceae family. This species is endemic to the south-west of Western Australia. It grows as a shrub reaching up to 6 metres (20 ft) tall, and flowers between spring and winter. There are two recognized varieties of Lambertia inermis. Lambertia inermis var. drummondii (Fielding & Gardner) Hnatiuk produces yellow flowers, while Lambertia inermis R.Br. var. inermis produces orange-red flowers. Chittick grows near the south coast of Western Australia, occurring from west of Albany through to the area around Esperance. Its range extends between 50 and 200 km (31 and 124 mi) inland from the coast, and it can grow on a variety of soil types ranging from sand to gravel.
