Scientific name: Koenigia weyrichii (F.Schmidt) T.M.Schust. & Reveal, also known by the synonym Persicaria weyrichii. Common names for this plant are Chinese knotweed and Weyrich's knotweed. It is a large, perennial, rhizomatous herb. This species is native to northeastern Asia, specifically found in Kamchatka, Sakhalin, and northern and central Japan. It is also locally naturalized in northern Europe. Koenigia weyrichii is one of the two parent species of the cultivated hybrid Koenigia × fennica; the other parent is Koenigia alpina.
