About Keckiella ternata (Torr. ex A.Gray) Straw
Keckiella ternata is a shrub that often grows taller than two meters. It has thin, wand-like waxy branches that spread out slightly. The branches hold leaves arranged either in whorls of three, or in opposite pairs. Each leaf is toothed, curved, tapered at the base, pointed at the tip, shaped oblong to lance-shaped, and can reach up to 6 centimeters long. Its inflorescence is a cluster of solid red tubular flowers, each up to 3 centimeters long. A hairy staminode can be seen in the opening of each flower.
