About Keckiella lemmonii (A.Gray) Straw
Keckiella lemmonii is a small shrub that produces long, narrow, mostly unbranched stems that grow to a maximum height near 1.5 meters. Its oval-shaped, slightly toothed green leaves are arranged in opposite positions along the stems. Each leaf can grow up to around 6 centimeters long. The flowers of this species are dull purple, marked with purple-brown streaks. Pointed lobes of the flower curl outward away from the flower’s mouth, exposing a hairy yellow sterile stamen called a staminode. Each flower reaches a maximum length of 2 centimeters.
