About Jasminum angulare Vahl

Jasminum angulare Vahl, commonly known as wild jasmine or angular jasmine, is a flowering plant species in the Oleaceae family that is indigenous to South Africa. It is one of approximately 10 jasmine species that occur naturally in South Africa. This scrambling evergreen shrub can grow in full sun or partial semi-shade. It produces pinnate leaves, along with abundant white, intensely scented, star-shaped flowers that attract many different types of birds. This species cannot tolerate freezing temperatures, so in temperate regions it grows best under glass, in an unheated greenhouse or conservatory. In the United Kingdom, Jasminum angulare has received the Royal Horticultural Society's Award of Garden Merit.
