About Jacksonia floribunda Endl.

Jacksonia floribunda Endl. is a shrub that can grow prostrate, low-lying, or upright. It typically reaches 0.05โ€“4 m (2.0 in โ€“ 13 ft 1.5 in) in height and 0.4โ€“3 m (1 ft 4 in โ€“ 9 ft 10 in) in width. Its branches are prominently ribbed, with terminal phylloclades that are egg-shaped, elliptic, or oblong. True leaves are reduced to scales that are broadly egg-shaped to round, 2.2โ€“9 mm (0.087โ€“0.354 in) long and 1.5โ€“3 mm (0.059โ€“0.118 in) wide. Flowers grow in long clusters, with scale leaves at the base of each cluster. Each individual flower sits on a 1.6โ€“9 mm (0.063โ€“0.354 in) long pedicel, and has bracteoles that are 3.0โ€“7.5 mm (0.12โ€“0.30 in) long and 0.5โ€“2.5 mm (0.020โ€“0.098 in) wide; these bracteoles fall off when the flower opens. The floral tube measures 0.75โ€“2.0 mm (0.030โ€“0.079 in) long and has no ribs. Sepals range from membranous to papery and brittle, with lobes 10.5โ€“20 mm (0.41โ€“0.79 in) long, 1.8โ€“4.6 mm (0.071โ€“0.181 in) wide, fused at the base. The standard petal is yellow-orange with red markings, 7.5โ€“10.3 mm (0.30โ€“0.41 in) long and 5.4โ€“11 mm (0.21โ€“0.43 in) deep. The wing petals are also yellow-orange with red markings, 8.0โ€“8.3 mm (0.31โ€“0.33 in) long. The keel is usually purplish-red, 6.2โ€“6.4 mm (0.24โ€“0.25 in) long. Stamens have pink filaments, and are 7.0โ€“9.7 mm (0.28โ€“0.38 in) long. Flowering occurs between October and March. The fruit is a woody, hairy pod 11.2โ€“14.9 mm (0.44โ€“0.59 in) long and 4.5โ€“7.2 mm (0.18โ€“0.28 in) wide. This species grows in shrubland or woodland in deep sand over laterite. It is widespread across south-western Western Australia, ranging from north of Geraldton to south of Perth, and inland to Corrigin. It occurs within the Avon Wheatbelt, Geraldton Sandplains, Jarrah Forest and Swan Coastal Plain bioregions.
