About Hosackia crassifolia Benth.
Hosackia crassifolia Benth. is a long-lived, somewhat bushy plant that grows long straight stems with evenly spaced oval-shaped leaves. It produces thick clusters of pea flowers that can be solid yellow, pink-and-yellow, or scarlet-and-yellow. Its blooming period runs from May to August. Its brownish pea pods hold speckled red or brown peas. This species is native to western North America. It grows in the U.S. states of California, Oregon, and Washington, and extends south into the Mexican state of Baja California. Populations within California occur in a range of diverse habitats, including chaparral, California oak woodland, California mixed evergreen forest, and conifer forest.
