About Hibiscus taiwanensis S.Y.Hu
Hibiscus taiwanensis S.Y.Hu is a flowering plant species that reaches a growth height of 3 to 5 meters. Its leaves are broad ovate to circular in shape, measuring 7 to 10 cm long and 6 to 8 cm wide. They are simple leaves carried on long petioles that are approximately 10 to 16 cm long, and arranged in an alternate pattern along stems. The corolla of this species is subcampanulate, with a diameter of 6 to 9 cm. Its blooming season runs from August to October, and fruits develop between November and December. Flowers of Hibiscus taiwanensis open white in the early morning, change to light pink by noon, and deepen to an even darker pink by the afternoon. This species is light-demanding, requiring large amounts of sunlight, and is also drought-enduring, with resistance to pollution and growth in barren soil. The wood of Hibiscus taiwanensis can be used to make clogs.
