About Hibiscus denudatus Benth.

Hibiscus denudatus Benth., commonly known as paleface or rock hibiscus, is a perennial shrub belonging to the mallow family Malvaceae, and is classified in the rosemallow genus Hibiscus. This species is native to southwestern North America, occurring in the southwestern United States and northern Mexico. In the United States, it grows in extreme southeastern California, southern Nevada, southern Arizona, southern New Mexico, and southwestern Texas. In Mexico, it can be found in northern Baja California, Sonora, Chihuahua, and Coahuila. Its habitat includes the Colorado Desert, Sonoran Desert, and extends eastward into the Chihuahuan Desert. Within California, rock hibiscus is found only in the extreme southeast region of the state, in the Colorado Desert (the northwestern section of the Sonoran Desert), as well as in neighboring Baja California, Mexico.
