About Grewia flavescens Juss.

Grewia flavescens Juss. is a species of flowering plant in the family Malvaceae. It goes by the common names rough-leaved raisin, sandpaper raisin, and donkey berry; the name donkey berry is also shared with the species Grewia bicolor. This plant is native to sub‑Saharan Africa, Yemen, Saudi Arabia, and India. It is classified as an underutilized crop, used both for its fruit and as livestock forage. Caterpillars of Anaphe reticulata have been recorded feeding on its foliage.
