Geographic Range
The geographic range of the Texas tortoise G. berlandieri extends from the southern third of Texas, an area roughly parallel to Houston, southwards into the Mexican states of Coahuila, Nuevo León, and Tamaulipas.
Habitat
Across this range, the Texas tortoise lives in semi-arid landscapes dominated by mesquite shrubs and cacti.
