About Goodyera rubicunda (Blume) Lindl.
Goodyera rubicunda (Blume) Lindl. is a tuberous, perennial herb. It produces between three and six dark green leaves, each 60โ120 mm (2โ5 in) long and 30โ50 mm (1โ2 in) wide, and the leaves sometimes have a reddish tinge. Between ten and twenty resupinate, dull pink and white flowers are borne on a brittle flowering stem that grows 200โ350 mm (8โ10 in) tall; individual flowers are 6โ8 mm (0.2โ0.3 in) long and 7โ10 mm (0.3โ0.4 in) wide. The dorsal sepal measures 8โ10 mm (0.31โ0.39 in) long and about 3 mm (0.1 in) wide, and forms a hood over the column. The lateral sepals are 8โ10 mm (0.31โ0.39 in) long, about 4 mm (0.2 in) wide, curved, and spread apart from one another. The petals are 7โ8 mm (0.28โ0.31 in) long, about 3 mm (0.1 in) wide, and almost translucent. The labellum is white or cream-coloured, 7โ9 mm (0.28โ0.35 in) long, 6โ7 mm (0.2โ0.3 in) wide, and has inward-pointing hairs on its inner surface. In Australia, this species flowers from September to October. Goodyera rubicunda grows in damp forest locations. Its distribution includes China, northeastern India, Indonesia, Japan (including the Ryukyu Islands), Malaysia, New Guinea, the Philippines, Vietnam, Queensland, and some Pacific islands.
