About Gompholobium virgatum Sieber ex DC.
Gompholobium virgatum Sieber ex DC., commonly known as leafy wedge pea, is an erect or sprawling shrub that usually grows up to 2 metres (6 feet 7 inches) high and 1 metre (3 feet 3 inches) wide. Its leaves are trifoliate, with narrow egg-shaped leaflets that have the narrower end toward the base. The leaflets measure 7.5 to 20 millimetres (0.30 to 0.79 inches) long and around 0.8 to 4.3 millimetres (0.031 to 0.169 inches) wide, with curved-down edges. Flowers are arranged singly, in pairs, or in groups of three, and each flower grows on a pedicel 8.5 millimetres (0.33 inches) long. The sepals are 5.2 to 7.2 millimetres (0.20 to 0.28 inches) long; the standard petal and wings are yellow, while the keel is greenish-yellow. This species flowers year-round, and its fruit is an oval pod 7 to 10 millimetres (0.28 to 0.39 inches) long. It grows in heathland, woodland, and open forest on the coast and tablelands, ranging from southern Queensland to southern New South Wales.
