About Globularia cordifolia L.

Globularia cordifolia, commonly known as the heart-leaved globe daisy, is a species of flowering plant belonging to the family Plantaginaceae. It is native to mountain regions of central and southern Europe, as well as western Turkey. This plant is a mat-forming evergreen perennial, growing to 5 cm (2 in) in height and 20 cm (8 in) in width. In summer, it produces spherical, fluffy, pale lilac flowers. For cultivation, it needs the open conditions, full sun, and sharp drainage that match its native habitat, and it grows best when planted in an alpine garden. The Latin specific epithet cordifolia translates to "with heart-shaped leaves". This plant has been awarded the Royal Horticultural Society's Award of Garden Merit.
