The grey-sided laughingthrush, scientifically named Pterorhinus caerulatus, is a species of passerine bird belonging to the family Leiothrichidae.
Taxonomic History
This species was originally classified in the genus Garrulax, listed under the scientific name Garrulax caerulatus originally published by Hodgson in 1836. After a comprehensive molecular phylogenetic study was published in 2018, it was moved to the resurrected genus Pterorhinus.
Distribution Range
This bird occurs naturally in Bhutan, China, India, Myanmar, and Nepal, and has been introduced to the Hawaiian Islands.
Natural Habitat
Its natural habitat is subtropical or tropical moist montane forests.
