Erythranthe dentata (Nutt. ex Benth.) G.L.Nesom is a hairy, rhizomatous perennial herb that grows an upright stem reaching up to approximately 40 centimeters in height. Its veined oval leaves grow up to around 7 centimeters long, and are arranged oppositely along the stem. The tubular base of the flower is enclosed in a ribbed calyx made of sepals, which has pointed lobes at its opening. The funnel-shaped yellow corolla can be up to 4 centimeters long, with a wide mouth; the upper lip of the corolla is split into two lobes, and the lower lip is split into three lobes.
