Diplacus nanus (Hook. & Arn.) G.L.Nesom is an annual herb covered in hairs. Individuals grow either low along the ground, or stand upright reaching a maximum height of 10 centimeters. Its leaves are arranged oppositely, are purple-green in color, shaped oval or oblong, and grow up to 2.5 centimeters long. The species produces tubular flowers with a wide opening. These flowers are most often magenta or purple, with two yellow stripes in their inner throat, but occasionally individuals may produce entirely yellow flowers. Individual flowers can reach up to 2 centimeters in length.
