Dalea ornata, commonly known as Blue Mountain prairie clover, is a perennial species that grows as either a subshrub or herb. It belongs to the subfamily Faboideae, which is part of the pea plant family Fabaceae. This species is native to the Great Basin region of the Western United States, where it occurs within the states of California, Idaho, Oregon, Nevada, and Washington. Habitats where Dalea ornata can be found include sagebrush communities, rocky ridges, and barrens with soil ranging from sandy to shaley.
