About Dalea mollissima (Rydb.) Munz

Dalea mollissima (Rydb.) Munz is a small, mat-forming herbaceous plant that can be either annual or perennial. Its leaves consist of several pairs of oval leaflets covered in fuzz. The foliage is similar to that of Dalea mollis, but differs in being covered with thinner, downy hairs. This species produces fluffy inflorescences of pea-like flowers, which can be white or lavender in color. Its blooming season runs from March to May. The fruit it produces is a legume pod containing a single seed. This plant is native to the Mojave Desert, the Sonoran Desert, and the desert chaparral found in adjacent mountains. It occurs in California, northeastern Baja California, western Arizona, and southern Nevada. It grows on desert flats and in washes, at elevations below 900 metres (3,000 ft).
