Dalea mollis Benth. is a small, clover-like, mat-forming annual legume. Its foliage is dotted with glands and thickly covered in long white hairs. Its leaves are composed of several pairs of small, folded, oval-shaped leaflets, each around one centimeter long. This plant produces pea-like flowers just under one centimeter wide; flowers may be lavender, yellow, or white, and are sometimes bicolored. Its fruit is a small, single-seeded legume pod. This wildflower is native to the deserts of California, Arizona, and northwestern Mexico. It is a common species within the Mojave Desert and Sonoran Desert ecoregions. It grows in small, flat patches on gravelly desert floors, slopes, and weedy roadsides.
