Species Distribution
This species is distributed across Bangladesh, the terai region of Mizoram, Myanmar, Thailand, Vietnam, West Borneo, Sumatra, and Java.
Subspecies Status
A subspecific taxon, Cyclemys oldhami shanensis, is sometimes treated as a separate species because of its distinctive shell pattern, which is often described as looking similar to aged meat.
Subspecies Range
This taxon ranges from central Myanmar to Thailand and Cambodia.
Type Locality
The species' original type locality was given as "Mergui and Siam", and was later restricted to Mergui by Smith in 1931.
