About Crepis paludosa (L.) Moench

Crepis paludosa, commonly called marsh hawk's-beard, is a European flowering plant species that belongs to the tribe Cichorieae within the family Asteraceae. It is widely distributed across most of Europe, and also has isolated populations in Iceland, the Ural Mountains, and the Caucasus. This herbaceous perennial grows along shady streams and in other damp, shady locations. Its inflorescence measures roughly 15–25 millimetres (0.6–1.0 in) across. The upper leaves of the plant clasp the stem with a pair of rounded basal lobes. Marsh hawk's-beard is a noticeably more robust plant than smooth hawksbeard, Crepis capillaris, and the two species are sometimes confused with each other. The flower heads of Crepis paludosa are yellow, and its flower buds are covered in black gland-hairs.
