About Cornulaca aucheri Moq.

Cornulaca aucheri Moq. is a low, spiny undershrub with a thick, non-succulent stem and rigid, deflexed leaves. Its stems branch from the base, and plants reach heights of 15 to 30 cm when growing in Qatar. The foliage holds small, sharp leaves, and its flowers grow in clusters of 2 to 3 in the upper leaf axils. The fruiting perianth segments often taper into spines. This species grows best in sandy soils, especially along coastal dunes and sabkha margins, and also occurs in semi-stabilized sands and sandy flats. Its distribution extends from North Africa to Pakistan, and includes the Arabian Peninsula.
