About Clematis integrifolia L.

Clematis integrifolia L. is a flowering vine in the genus Clematis. Like many other species in this genus, it is valued by gardeners for its showy blooms. In summer, C. integrifolia produces nodding, urn-shaped blue flowers that measure 1.5 inches wide. It is a relatively short variety, reaching a maximum height of only 3 feet. This species is native to Europe and Asia. In the United States, it grows best in American Horticultural Society zones 3 through 8. Several popular garden hybrids have been created by crossing C. integrifolia with other Clematis species. C. 'Hendersonii' is a cross between C. integrifolia and C. viticella, C. 'Durandii' is a cross between C. integrifolia and C. x jackmanii, and Clematis × aromatica is the result of a cross between C. integrifolia and Clematis flammula.
